Our first parent’s open day was held on Saturday 14th November and we were absolutely delighted to welcome so many parents to the event. We had the pleasure of being joined by Ms. Joy Qiao, Chair of the Board of Governors, who introduced the strong relationship between Wellington College China, Wellington College UK and the New Bund / Lujiazui Group.
Ms. Helen Kavanagh, International Business Director for Wellington College who attended the event outlined the history of Wellington College and the very close and unique bond between the Wellington College UK and Wellington College China.
The presentations were completed by a talk from myself in order to establish the vision and educational model for the early years’ setting followed by introducing the specifically designed facility and how it supports the development of young children. Afterwards the parents were able to mix in the model room whilst enjoying refreshments. This also provided an opportunity for an informal question and answer session where I had the chance to talk with many parents and discuss their hopes and aspirations for their children.
It was heart-warming to hear the feedback from the parents and to have affirmation that the philosophy held by Wellington College is one that Shanghainese parents appreciate and hold true to their own values and beliefs on what early years’ education should be. Some of the parents stayed on for a site visit and were impressed by the scale of the setting – using our model is a good way of outlining the facility, but seeing the actual buildings and outdoor space brings everything to life.
We have another open day this Saturday 21st November and are fully booked until 23rd January 2016. I hope to meet more of you at these events and look forward to welcoming you to the Wellington family.
