The Week Ahead 20151106

10 Nov 2015

Following the official signing ceremony last week, we have had a fabulous response form the Shanghai community and our open days for November are already full. The number of enquiries that we have had has been astonishing and we are busy planning to ensure that every interested family has a chance to learn about our fabulous early years’ setting. Please ensure that you register as we are filling up fast. At the site, the building work continues and the framework for the reception area is firmly in place. I can imagine the children entering this calm and peaceful space, being able to look through the glass wall behind reception to see the vegetable garden, the outdoor kitchen area and lots of wonderful green space. What more does a child need to plant the seeds of learning than to be able to see opportunities to explore, discover and find out for themselves. One of the most amazing aspects of being an Early Years’ educator is being able to visualise how children might react and how they will respond to the spaces presented to them. This is why we do what we do; ultimately it is all about the children and providing exciting opportunities to learn. We also welcomed Erica Dong to the team this week. Erica has joined as Accountant for Wellington College Bilingual Shanghai and brings with her many years of experience of accountancy practice. I am sure many of you will meet with Erica over the coming months and will find her to be a most efficient and friendly lady. As the nights draw in and winter approaches, it is good for the team to be close to the setting. We enjoy watching it evolve daily and being able to see our dream come to fruition. Kind regards, Vanessa Szucs-Hussain British Headmaster, Wellington College Bilingual Shanghai
