As we welcome the month of May, we also welcome our IT specialist, Michael. His first priority will be to set up our Parent Portal so that you can access information and share in your children's school life through photographs and so much more. We hope to be able to provide you very soon of your access information.
Last week Vanessa introduced the importance of reading and art of storytelling. To continue with this theme, we would like to share our favourite English and Chinese books for children aged 0-5 years of age. Everyone will have a favourite story that we will love to read over and over again, for a variety of reasons. Maybe you like the characters in the story, the story itself or the memories associated with reading the book at home or in school. It may be the way that the teacher read the story, the puppets you used to retell the story or the voices your parents used trying to be different characters.
A special book for us has been Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?
As you will be aware we have been reading this book in school. It is a wonderful resource introducing colours and animals to children. It has repetition of questions and sentences which helps children to join in, giving children the confidence to speak English, sometimes for the first time. Children can remember the order of the animals and predict what animal will come next. For book day each class made their chosen animal from the story and in EY1 we have used the book to sing it as a song.
Other favourite books include:
Dear Zoo
We're Going on a Bear Hunt
The Hungry Caterpillar
Press Here
Where the Wild Things Are
Room on a Broom
The Gruffalo
The Rainbow Fish
Walking Through the Jungle
The Very Busy Spider
Chinese books include:
猜猜我有多爱你
彩虹色的花
吃掉黑暗的怪兽
今天运气怎么这么好
约瑟夫有件旧外套
小木匠学手艺
南瓜汤
爱吃水果的牛
借你一把伞
你很快就会长高
We have continued to host weekly 'Coffee Mornings' and would like to share our success as we only have a few spaces left for admission in EY1, EY2 and EY3 for August 2016.
