INTRODUCING THE PARENT REPRESENTATIVES I am delighted to be able to introduce the parents who will take on the role of parent representative (rep) for Wellington College Bilingual Shanghai this year. The role of the parent rep is key to ensuring clear and effective lines of communication between the individual classroom teams, increasing the involvement of the parent body in the life of the school and support in organising Wellington College events. The parent reps will also sit on the food committee and be invited to attend curriculum planning sessions, so that there is a full awareness of life at Wellington College Bilingual Shanghai. They will then work with the parent body to ensure this information is disseminated accordingly. The parent reps are: EY1 Butterfly Class (Miss Tracy) – Nan Nan’s Mum EY1 Bumble Bee Class (Miss Polly) – Jin Jin’s Mum EY1 Dragonfly Class (Miss Candice) – Bang Bang’s Mum EY2 Kitten Class (Miss Sophie) – Bobby’s Mum EY2 Bunny Class (Miss PeiHua) – Emma’s Mum One of the first tasks to be undertaken by the parent reps is to get a WeChat group up and running for each class group. The teacher, whilst not part of this group will communicate any necessary information to the parent rep via email and the information will then be passed on to the parents via WeChat. We ask that the WeChat groups are used of this purpose and not to discuss any issues which would be better dealt with face-to-face with the class teacher, Yuki or myself. PARENT INFORMATION SESSION: The next parent information session will be held on Wednesday 25th May at 09:00 in the main reception lobby. Dr Ahmed Hussain, Director of Schools will host an informal discussion on Wellington College Bilingual Shanghai School which is due to open in September 2018. UPCOMING EVENTS: TUESDAY 17TH MAY – TEDDY BEARS PICNIC Children are asked to bring their favourite bear with them today! There are lots of bear-related activities planned throughout the day and as a special treat, Mums and Dads are invited to join the children for a picnic outside from 14:30. Our wonderful catering team will provide picnic goodies for our Wellington families to enjoy. We regret that we cannot accept food from outside sources at this event.       SATURDAY 14TH & SATURDAY 28TH MAY – SHANGHAI MORNING POST EVENT We are delighted to be able to host 10 families who will join us for a playdate at Wellington College Bilingual Shanghai. There are lots of fun activities planned around one of our favourite stories: Brown Bear.
