Our Favorite Story Characters

27 Mar 2017

Read, read, read is the Wellington mantra; or at least it should be.

At Wellington we love to read books to the children and they love listening to them. In EY2, we are currently enjoying our “World of Stories” theme.  We’ve been exploring classic English and Chinese tales and more modern stories that are shared around the world. Our stories have come alive as the children have enjoyed going on bear hunts, helped the tadpoles find their mother, going fishing with a cat, and practising sharing with the Rainbow Fish and his friends.
Learning is always active in our setting but today we took it to a whole new level.  Our corridors and classrooms were filled with wonderful costumes and characters as the children and staff in EY2 dressed up as their favourite children’s story character to celebrate our love of literature.  The children did a fantastic job and had great fun when we paraded our costumes around the setting. Best of all, our stories came alive as the children talked about who they were, or who someone else was.  The event sparked so much imaginative role play, conversation, and learning it was a shame the day had to end.  Many thanks to our EY2 families and children for making today such a special day.
