All parents should have received an invitation to our Farewell party on Saturday 23rd June and I sincerely hope to see many of you there. This will not be the sad occasion I once anticipated; it will be an opportunity to acknowledge how far we have come and to reaffirm the journey ahead. I am sure there may be one or two tears, but they will be tears of happiness more than as sorrow. Our forever home is ready and at the end of June we will make the move towards our future where the next chapter will begin.     Classroom News for week beginning Monday 11th June 2018 EY1 – Erica Ni writes about the theme The Very Busy Bee Next week, EY1 will continue working on the theme “The Very Busy Bee”. Children will have opportunity to play with shaving cream. By playing with shaving cream, children can talk about how does it feel, they can mix colours and shaving cream to explore how colours change, they can also use wooden sticks or fingers to draw in the shaving cream. To promote children’s gross motor skills, we will also play throwing games with children. Children can throw water bags at the shapes. In small world area, children are going to play with insect toys and animal toys. We love to see children be imaginative and create their own stories through small world play. They will then talk about their favourite sea animals and describe the different features of the animals. We will learn about the concept of symmetry this week. Children will have the opportunity to draw half a picture of a sea animal, insect or their favourite animals while viewing the other half of the picture for reference. We will talk about the size and shape of the animal pictures so that children can fully understand what symmetry means and how to achieve symmetry when they draw. Be warned we will be playing and exploring with water more and more this week, so please remember to send your child into the setting with a spare change of clothes every day. As well as experimenting with water the children will also be preparing for their up and coming concert, rehearsing and preparing the costumes that they will be wearing. We hope that you will all be able to make it to this great event. The regular activities that the children will be involved with next week will be their music lessons, gym and library sessions (Please remember to send library books back into the setting every week).   EY4 – Emily Gu writes about the theme Imagine That EY4 children will be listening to stories without the pictures, which helps them to develop their skills of listening attention and will encourage children to conjure up their imagination a picture of what is happening. They will be asked different questions about the setting of the story, such as what are the main characters in the stories? What problem did they meet? How did they solve the problem? What’s your favourite part of the story? Children will continue to do some money related activities and do some shopping activities.
